Half in Ten Anti-Poverty Campaign Internship
The Half in Ten campaign aims to reduce poverty by 50 percent in the next 10 years by bringing together three organizations with the experience, knowledge, and resources to make that goal a reality: The Center for American Progress Action Fund, the Coalition on Human Needs, and the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights have teamed up in this multi-year effort to update the public’s perception of poverty and change the course of federal, state, and local governing by encouraging policies that promote decent work, provide opportunity for all, ensure economic security, and help Americans build wealth over their lifetimes
The Half in Ten intern will work with the campaign manager, the three convening organizations and additional allies to drive the campaign forward.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Help to plan a series of events to bring policymakers, policy experts, grassroots community members, service providers, and grassroots leaders together around antipoverty goals and in order to advance specific policies.
- Develop a strategy to engage student groups and young professionals in the Half in Ten campaign.
- Assemble the Half in Ten monthly newsletter to be sent to thousands of activists and supporters across the country.
- Support the campaign in its new media and web strategy, including producing content for the Half in Ten website and growing our presence on Tweeter and Facebook.
- Conduct research on antipoverty policies including producing fact sheets for Half in Ten advocacy efforts.
