Robin Rooks McQueen is the Director of Development at American Progress, where she helps direct American Progress’s fundraising efforts. A seasoned professional with more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit development, Robin joined the team from the Executive Leadership Council, where she was the director of development responsible for their fundraising efforts and helped lead the organization to raise a combined $16 million annual budget.

Prior to the Executive Leadership Council, Robin was the finance director at Women’s Voices Women Vote, where she helped lead the organization to raise a combined $20 million annual budget. She also served as a major gifts officer at the Human Rights Campaign, where she managed a strategic major gifts solicitation program in major cities across the country to raise funds for the organization’s foundation and political work. She also worked strategically with the organization president and the board of directors to target high-end principle-giving prospective donors.

Before moving to Washington, Robin was the executive director of the New York-based Seeking Harmony in Neighborhoods Everyday, improving its fiscal outlook and strategy. During her tenure in New York, she also served as the associate director of Capital Campaigns for the YMCA of Greater New York during its $50 million Capital Campaign.

She began her development career in Baltimore, Maryland, where she held leadership positions at The Johns Hopkins University at the university libraries and at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Robin earned her bachelor’s degree in urban and environmental planning from the University of Virginia School of Architecture.
