Emily Oshima
Research Associate/Policy Analyst, Health Policy
Emily Oshima is the Research Associate/Policy Analyst with the Health Policy team at American Progress. Prior to joining the Center, Emily served as a public policy intern with the Science, Medical and Public Health group of the American Medical Association in Chicago, Illinois, where she worked on Affordable Care Act policies with an emphasis on health outcomes for vulnerable populations. While in Chicago, Emily also managed the National Newcomer-Immigrant Program for the YMCA of the USA, where she worked closely with local YMCAs across the United States to strengthen their organizational capacities to develop, implement, and assess direct service and policy strategies to serve immigrants. Emily’s experience also includes work with low-income, HIV-positive families in a managed care setting. Originally from Hawaii, Emily received her M.A. in social service administration from the University of Chicago and her B.A. in legal studies and English from Northwestern University.
