Matt Sherman
Research Assistant
Matt Sherman is a Research Assistant for the American Worker Project at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, he worked under the direction of economist Dean Baker at the Center for Economic and Policy Research, where he published research on macroeconomic issues including financial regulation, government transparency, and the fiscal challenges facing state and local governments. Matt graduated with high distinction from the University of Virginia, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in political and social thought and a minor in economics. His undergraduate thesis was entitled, “The Microfinance Revolution: Making Business Sense out of Poverty Alleviation.” He also worked for a time with history professor Allan Megill, helping to revise his book toward the publication of a new edition. Matt hails from Wilmette, Illinois.
