Michael Adams
Michael Adams is the executive director of Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Elders, or SAGE, the oldest and largest organization in the country providing services and advocacy for LGBT elders. SAGE and SAGE affiliates across the country directly serve thousands of LGBT older people across the country each month—through technical assistance, training, and advocacy around aging issues.
Previously, Adams was the director of education and public affairs for Lambda Legal; spent a decade leading cutting-edge litigation that established new rights for LGBT people, both at the American Civil Liberties Union Lesbian and Gay Rights Project and at Lambda Legal; and authored numerous publications on an array of LGBT issues. Michael was also named one of the “100 Most Influential Gay Men and Lesbians” by Out magazine. In February 2010, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and the Administration on Aging awarded SAGE a historic grant to create the nation's only national resource center on LGBT aging.
