NCES 3.0 will focus on investment and access to capital for emerging clean energy technologies and companies. Nevada can lead the way in this national effort with its vast solar, wind, and geothermal clean energy resources. These dynamic summits have emerged as the country’s most visible and influential gatherings of leaders and top policymakers in only a few short years. The U.S. Senate: Minority Rules

September 28, 2010, 12:30pm – 1:30pm

George Packer caused a stir earlier this year with The New Yorker piece examining the dysfunction of today's U.S. Senate in "The Empty Chamber: Just how broken is the Senate?" Speaking with Senators such as Senator Jeff Merkley from Oregon, Packer paints a picture of the "world’s most deliberative body" being focused on stonewalling legislation and confirmations rather than governing.

To put Packer's article in perspective, Senator Merkley of Oregon and Ira Shapiro will join Packer to discuss how procedural tactics such as filibusters and anonymous holds grind the work of the government to a screeching halt.

Please join the Center for American Progress Action Fund for a special presentation on The U.S. Senate: Minority Rules.
